The University of Moratuwa, one of the most renowned universities in the country,has earned the reputation ofproducing knowledgeable, skilled and creative graduates for the society. Each year a fresh batch of undergraduates steps into the corporate world and“Are You Ready?”, the official careers week of the University of Moratuwa, is there to make sure that these undergraduates are empowered with skills and competencies to become future professionals.   Introduced in 1998, this year marked the 18th“Are You Ready?”.Starting 8th October the programme was held over 6 days, encompassing five sessions and also the Flagship day. Organized by the Rotaract Club of the University of Moratuwa and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Colombo West, the programme was done in collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Moratuwa.

The project with its humble beginnings of around 10 companies and 140 students has now become a venture of over 60 companies and 600 students from all faculties of the University of Moratuwa. “Are You Ready?” has laid the foundation for other universities to organize similar careers fairs in their respective fields. Over the years the programme has evolved with the ever changing requirements of the corporate world for graduates. Sessions have been modified, scrapped and added as required to offer a better programme every year.

The limelight is alwayson the Flagship day of the event comprised of mock or real interviews, conducted by prospective employers, for the passing out batch of the university. This serves as a competency test for any future recruitment after the undergraduates receive their Bachelor’s degree. The program paves way for employers to identify befitting and resourceful employees among the fresh graduates from the university.
